Ashley Hutchison, M.S.
Hello! I'm Ashley, a 3rd year doctoral student in counseling psychology. I just finished my prelim (comprehensive) exams for my doctorate degree, and am anxiously awaiting the faculty's decision on whether I passed/failed. I am also involved in a variety of other professional activities this semester, including counseling at Lucina and the BSU Practicum Clinic, presenting at an international career counseling conference in September, teaching CPSY 360 Human Sexuality, supervising masters-level trainees, and taking several classes myself. I am hoping that upon hearing I passed prelims, I will soon apply to internships and match sometime this Spring. My clinical interests are in working with international students and adolescents. I plan to pursue a career in academia, furthering my recent research on emotional expression in non-Western cultures, and this concept's application to training future counselors and counseling psychologists.Generally, my academic focus has been in the area of international psychology and counseling psychology around the world. I hope to one day either work domestically with international students and conduct cross-cultural or cultural research or work abroad, depending on family and 'normal' life demands/priorities.

Personally, I am also in the midst of planning a wedding. My fiancee Justin and I got engaged about a year ago, and are officially tying the knot this coming November 5th. We are both originally from Lawrence, KS and love the Kansas Jayhawks. We live together here in Muncie and are raising two dogs, a bassett hound named Flash and a boston terrier named Dexter. We are actually in the midst of adopting a third dog, a boxer, due to our boxer Callie suddenly passing away this summer. Some people think we're nuts for actually wanting 3 dogs, but they fill our house with energy and are our 'children' for the time being.
