Family Portrait

I am currently a 2nd year doctoral student in the Department of Counseling Psychology and Guidance Services at Ball State University. I grew up in Illinois in a family of four (family portrait above) and went to St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA. I applied to Ball State University after working with a faculty at SAU who was a graduate of Ball State. I received my master's in community counseling in 2010. I just recently got married on August 13th and moved to Fishers, IN, because my wife got a job at IU Health Methodist Hospital in downtown Indianapolis where she works as a cardiac nurse.

My cognate in the doctoral program is couples and family, and my area of research interest is in the field of men and masculinity studies. I am interested in working with college students in the clinical setting. I am excited about exploring various theories of human lifespan development, as it applies well to my clinical work and area of research. I find college student's to be in a very dynamic period in development, and I am excited about learning how to better understand their perspectives, experiences, and worldviews.
